In my world of phone triage, you would amazed at how ready parents are to bring kids to the ER. For the poor, uninsured and un-educated, the ER has become the de-facto public health clinic. I talk to people all of the time who are ready to take their child to the ER because their child feels warm, and they have neither taken a temperature nor given the child any Tylenol. A very high number of people are convinced that the ER will give their child who has a cold an anti-biotic, as well. I should not complain, ignorance and stupidity have given me a job.
